Where is the kite school situated on Djerba?
It is at a lagoon in the south east of Djerba.The hotels are situated along the street Route Touristique. When you leave the hotel you must drive to the left in the direction south east. What is the advantage of this lagoon for kitesurfing?
It is safety, because the water is flat, there are no waves and it is limited by a spit of land, so that you cannot be blown of course into the open sea. There are no corals and sea urchins. So you will learn kitesurfing safety and very quickly
How are the conditions of wind?
From the month in the middle of April till the middle of October there is thermic wind. It starts at 1 PM and increases till 4-5 Bft. in the afternoon. In summer the wind direction is East, North East ? onshore to side shore. In this time you have the chance of 90% wind.
In the other months there is atmospheric wind caused by the deep and high pressure around the Me. Sea. So it can happen that there is many weeks continuous wind of 4-6 Bft. In other way it can be that there is some time with less wind. Normally you can expect wind 60 ? 70% of the week.
The direction of the Wind in the months November to the middle of March is: 15% South/South East, 35% North, North-West 25%West and 25% East-North East.
How is the temperature of the water?
The water temperature in the Kite lagoon south-east Souk el Ghuebli (shallow water):

- July/August 29/30 degrees C
- September/October 27/25 degrees C
- November/December 22/18 degrees C
- the water temperature in the sea is ca. 2 degrees less.
Do we offer the shuttle service to the kite school from each hotel?
Yes. In the morning we come between 9:15 and 9:45 and bring you back at 18:00. This we have to arrange by telephone before. Taxi driving is very cheap. If you like to be independent you should take a taxi. It costs between 3 and 5 Euros for one way.
Can we buy some food and drinks at the lagoon?
Yes, we have a small bistro.
Which material do I need?
This depends of your weight, the size of the board and of course of the wind conditions.
In the summer you need mostly Kites of the size11-14. In the winter you should take with you additional a smaller kite.
Which material do you have in your kite school?
Bowkites: North , F-One and Cabrinha. Boards: Spleene and North.
Do you have enough material?
We have about 70 Kites und 35 Boards.
Are harness, neopren and shoes included in the rent?
No, but we rent this material.
Is it possible to rent kite material without having a kite license?
Yes, this is possible. We will control your level of kitesurfing before.
Is the kite material insured during the kite lesson and during the rent?
During the lessons the material is insured. If you rent a material you can insure it by a Safety-Tool insurance of the VDWS.
How long does it take to learn Kite surfing?
You find the best conditions. It is safe, because the water is shallow, no waves and it is limited by a spit of land, so that you cannot be blown of course into the open sea. So you can learn it safety in a short time of 6 till 10 hours. It depends, if you have practice in similar sports like wake boarding, snowboarding.
Can I store my equipment in your school?
Yes, we offer guarded storage.
What is included in the price?
Usage of our station, shower with freshwater, usage of the toilets, loungers or chairs, sunshades, usage of the compressor, 220 volt electricity, stereo equipment, volleyball. Service through the staff, help with your questions, rescue with the boat or the car.
Please note, that the freshwater has to be brought with a truck and the residues of the toilets have to be cart away.
The charge for the Kite is included in the shuttle and storage price.

Is it possible to come to the kite lagoon for kitesurfing, without engaging the school’s services?
We have an agreement with the Tunisian government, which makes us responsible for the viewing area of the school for all riders and the events associated with it. This means that we have the authority to appropriate measures that will help avoid the unforeseen events. Thus any accidents fall into the field of view of the school in our responsibility. In order to protect our customers and us, we therefore cannot accept customers who have not registered with our school in view of the school kiting. The kite lagoon is large enough . Towards Roman dam there are plenty of other options. In addition, it is also allowed to kite in front of the hotel zone. However, other watersports are of absolute priority there. This means that during the peak season kiting in front of the hotel zone is limited.
